How to Create Stunning Page Curl Effects with AV Bros. Page Curl Pro 2.2
If you are looking for a Photoshop plugin that can help you create realistic and eye-catching page curl effects, you should check out AV Bros. Page Curl Pro 2.2. This plugin is a multi-purpose and extremely powerful tool that lets you not only bend, curl or fold the image, but also texturize it, orient it in 3D space and control the lighting effects.
In this article, I will show you how to use AV Bros. Page Curl Pro 2.2 to create some amazing page curl effects for your images. You will learn how to use the different types of bending, how to apply bump maps, how to adjust the perspective and how to add inner shadows.
Step 1: Install AV Bros. Page Curl Pro 2.2
The first step is to install AV Bros. Page Curl Pro 2.2 on your computer. You can download a free trial version from the official website or buy the full version for $49.95. The plugin is compatible with Adobe Photoshop and other hosts that support Photoshop plugins.
Once you have downloaded the plugin, run the installer and follow the instructions. The plugin will be automatically installed in your Photoshop plugins folder.
Step 2: Open an Image in Photoshop
The next step is to open an image that you want to apply the page curl effect to in Photoshop. You can use any image you like, but for this tutorial I will use this photo of a book cover:
Make sure your image is in RGB mode and has a transparent background. You can use the Magic Wand tool or the Quick Selection tool to select and delete the background if needed.
Step 3: Apply AV Bros. Page Curl Pro 2.2
Now it's time to apply the plugin to your image. Go to Filter > AV Bros > Page Curl Pro 2.2 and you will see the plugin interface:
The plugin interface has four main sections: Bending, Texturizing, Lighting and Orientation.
Bending
The Bending section is where you can choose the type of bending you want to apply to your image. There are two types of bending: Curling and Folding.
Curling bends the image along a curve, creating a smooth and realistic page curl effect. Folding bends the image along a straight line, creating a sharp and crisp page fold effect.
You can adjust the parameters of each type of bending using the sliders and the preview window. You can also use the mouse to drag the corners or sides of the image directly on the preview window.
For this tutorial, I will use the Curling type of bending with these settings:
Curl Angle: 45
Curl Radius: 100
Obliquity: 0
Backside: Same Image
Opacity: 100
Anti-Aliasing: On
This is how my image looks like after applying these settings:
Texturizing
The Texturizing section is where you can apply a bump map to your image to give it some texture and depth. A bump map is a grayscale image that defines how much each pixel of your image is raised or lowered.
You can choose from several predefined bump maps aa16f39245
